Today we’d like to introduce you to David Beltran.
David, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. I went to high school and college in Chicago. After college, I went through a lot of different ventures but the longest lasting one has been a record label and artist collective I started with my friends called, Feeltrip. We started as a DIY music venue and then eventually, started putting out bands albums, making shirts and apparel and publishing zines.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a little of both. We had a lot of ups and downs, but of course, in retrospect, I’m not sure anything is actually a “bad” thing. Our DIY venue would get shut down in 2013 after only 2 years of operations. We have had some problems navigating the big money world of the music industry as well, all while trying to maintain our own artistic vision.
Please tell us about Feeltrip.
We are a record label and artist collective. We try our best to represent artists, many from the Chicago area. We are known for doing events, making huge sets at our events, putting out quality music, making quality apparel and making overall good art.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Maybe the bulls winning the championships.
