Meet Claudia Flores and Maria Sanchez of 312 Maids in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia Flores and Maria Sanchez.

Claudia and Maria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We came to Chicago from Argentina to work, I came first in 1999 and my mom came in august 2000 with my little sister. We had to learn English from books and by watching TV, it was a lot of work but we did it. we were always very involve in our jobs, willing to learn end excel in everything we do, I starter in the restaurant business as well as my mom Maria and in 2014 we started the cleaning company, my mom had some experience from working in a couple cleaning jobs and also as janitor in the downtown area, so we said why not we have the dedication and drive so let’s do it.

We started with no costumers and little equipment our first costumer came after 3 month of handing out business cards and flyers, it was a little hard at the beginning because we still had to keep our full time jobs so we would schedule appointments after we were done working at 3 pm and on weekends, but little by little we started getting referrals from different people and we finally got to the point that we could not keep both so I quit first and after one year Maria quit hers. After 3 1/2 years in the business we have 7 full time employees so I think we are doing ok. lol

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This business can be very competitive so I think quality is very important to succeed. Also dedication and patience is a must.

Please tell us about 312 Maids.
We are a home and office cleaning business, we pay a lot of attention to detail and I think that’s what we are known for. We try to accommodate costumers as much as we can. We are proud of being a Family business who loves to work together and is not afraid of daily challenges.

I think our attitude is amazing, no matter how bad our day is going we always get the job done and have a good positive attitude, and I am not just saying that a lot of people always tells us that our good energy and good sense of humor is what makes us different from others.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Lol, I used to wax my home floors with my brothers by sitting on a blanket and one of my brothers pulling on it until the floor was extra shiny. Cleaning and cooking was everything we would do.
