Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Moritz and Pawel Witkowski.
Please kick things off for us, we’d love to her the story.
Christine Moritz and Trisha Cohen started 2Design Group in early 2009 with the belief that each client should always feel most important. Creating timeless and functional spaces will always be part of what we do, but it’s our ability to build solid relationships with clients that has made us successful.
Starting the business at the height of the market crash was a bold decision. We not only survived the recession, but also have made huge leaps since opening our doors thanks to Trisha and Christine setting the foundation for great design and customer service.
Listening carefully to our clients’ needs, we realized we needed to offer full-service design to be successful in the market. With degrees in interior design, as well as experience in kitchen and bath design, retail planning and interior architecture, we were able to capture a large audience of clients, including homeowners, architects, builders and other interior designers in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York and Virginia.
The next chapter for 2Design Group started in 2013 with the opening of a new studio, Trisha moving to the east coast to open an Atlanta office (now in Denver, CO), and Pawel Witkowski joining Christine as a business partner. Our growth continues with the launch of a new multifaceted retail store and event space for our clients in March of 2015. Pawel leads up the cabinetry and project management division, while Christine takes the lead on the interiors and retail division.
Our ongoing success is fueled by an amazing staff of creative, hardworking and energetic designers providing services to clients in interior architecture, interior design, and kitchen and bath design. In addition to the many services we provide, we represent multiple cabinetry and furniture lines, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and our signature custom metal hood line. This integrated approach enables us to manage all aspects of our clients’ projects from concept through completion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have been very fortunate to be extremely busy every year we have been in business. Struggles are those of many small business owners. Pawel and I wear so many hats during the day that we work VERY long hours every day of the week. Our business is so important to us that it is hard for us to leave things untouched. We personally are involved with some aspect of every project and work with all the designers in the office. On top of our own clients, we still run all the daily activities in the office as well. So I would say our biggest struggle is handling all the workload throughout the day.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about 2Design Group & Home2Design – what should we know?
We are a full-service design firm offering interior architecture, kitchen and bath design and interior design. On top of the design “services” we provide all the products as well. We really pride ourselves in delivering unique designs and great customer service. We are continuously busy with new clients, but also many repeat clienteles.
I am proud of how far we have come so quickly. We started with 2 founders and within a 4 year period have quadrupled in size. In addition, we opened our retail store 2 years ago.
I am proud of our company and our staff. We have such a talented group of young designers. All have been with us for many years and we have such a great working relationship among all of us. We are like a big family in the office. It truly is a great environment to work in!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My original business partner and other founder Trisha Cohen is an amazing designer and we took the leap together to start this company. My husband has been a huge supporter over the years and continues to put up with all my crazy hours that I work. Everyone of our clients are huge supporters of us and excited for every bit of success we have.
