Meet Bonnie Cortez of Chosen with Bonnie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Cortez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bonnie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Service is what drives me. As a Montessori teacher for 10 years, a Doula for 15 years and a massage therapist for 20 years, serving families during times of need was my practice.

In thinking about a profession that could serve myself and others for the next 40 years, I thought about putting my strengths to use in a joy-filled way. Writing comes naturally, listening to people’s stories and creating ceremonies that reflect who they are and who they want to grow to be is my specialty. Becoming a Life-Cycle Celebrant with Chosen with Bonnie was a natural evolution.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I listen to my instincts and follow natural curiosities, both of which help drive me personally and professionally. I would say the road has been smooth because I follow paths that reflect my strengths. Making choices that help others feel heard, seen and celebrated is extremely fulfilling.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chosen with Bonnie – what should we know?
As a Life-Cycle Celebrant with Chosen with Bonnie, I write and officiate tailor-made wedding ceremonies, vow renewal ceremonies, baby naming ceremonies, memorial services and more. I am known for my calm demeanor along with my ability to weave a story together that reflects individuals, their families and their hopes and dreams. I am very responsive to my families, I listen with compassion, and I enjoy bringing humor and tenderness into precious family times. It is an honor to be chosen as a couple’s officiant for one of the most precious days of their lives.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being a compassionate listener, a skilled writer and Celebrant, and knowing the value of good service are essential to my success.
