Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Gardzina.
Barbara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My adventure with photography started when I was six years old. My grandfather bought me my first camera. I was taking pictures of everything and everyone. My family was sick of me at some point ☺. I could develop my pictures for free because my grandmother worked in a laboratory, so sky was a limit. I was really lucky!
I always saw the world in a little different way than others, and I still do. I am looking for beauty. I want to capture it and show it. Often, people don’t pay attention to details. They just see a final result. I am looking for a “magic” in my pictures. The way I capture emotions, people or things show how I want to see the world.
I started by taking pictures of nature, animals, and architecture. I traveled a lot. After each trip, I had a pretty big collection of beautiful images. As of now, I am focusing mainly on a model photo-shoots. I became pretty good at it. I know how to work with models and pose them. I am good with composition. During the photo session, I am trying to build a connection with models, so they feel comfortable and they trust my suggestions and ideas. I want to make them look exquisite.
Has it been a smooth road?
I guess the hardest part was to figure out what I wanted. I needed to define what type of photography excites me the most. I still struggle with it. I love it all. I think model photography is a winner though. 😉
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago is a mixture of everything. I love the variety. This city is “pounding” with energy. It works like a magnet. Within two blocks where I live, I have five different restaurants from around the world. I am so spoiled because of having it all available whenever I want. There is only one thing that makes Chicago less perfect… the weather. I don’t think I surprised anyone by saying that.☺
