Today we’d like to introduce you to Araceli Perez.
Araceli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Peter and I married in March of 2003 and together we started Peter’s Wood Refinishing, with a car, a couple tools, and hunger for success. We were both passionate about our work and a couple weeks into starting the new adventure we were awarded a job in Evanston, Mrs. Wallace’s house was our first big project and we believed that there were many people that were looking for us to strip and refinish their wood, and indeed there are.
14 years later, Peter and I wake up every morning excited to go to work and still believe in our clients and their desire to preserve original woodwork and to save a tree.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. We start off and things were going great, then the house market crushed and for a while we struggled but we had a vision and focused on the clients that said yes.
We worked more during those years and that made us stronger.

Peter’s Wood Refinishing is a Chicago-based company serving both the city and suburbs with high-quality wood refinishing for projects both large and small. We are also an established vendor for the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association.
We specialize in on-site stripping and refinishing, with additional work done in-house at our shop. At Peter’s we take great pride in our work, which is rooted in our love of wood, our commitment to workmanship, and our respect for preservation goals.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel like Chicago is a great place to do business, there are many homes that need my service and the people in the city are just wonderful. It is a diverse community and there is business for everyone
