Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrew. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always wanted to create things. I may not have the grease on my hands, but I definitely owe my success to the life lessons from father and my imagination from my mother. During my late teen years and early 20’s, I took on photography, then graphic design, then web design, and then video. All my media experience has helped craft my skill to tell a brand’s story as efficiently and relatable as possible.
Now… I work in Real Estate! It is a completely different path, but as it turns out, I get to use my skills to help people who have turned to real estate to provide the life they’ve always dreamed of. It has been rewarding beyond belief. After five years of working for a real estate brokerage and pushing it to reach the INC 5000 Fasting Growing Companies list the past two years and going on a third, I began to realize that there was a major hurdle prohibiting me from having the impact I knew that I could have. I wanted to reach and impact the entire real estate community, not just those at my real estate brokerage. That is what led to Broker Life.
I decided to partner with our company president on a new concept. We founded Broker Life, an educational platform that aims to provide agents both locally and nationally with the tools to live the lives of their dreams with real estate being the vehicle.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been challenges along the way that come with starting a company and doing something never done before. But the struggle I experienced with my real estate brokerage led me to Broker Life.
At my real estate brokerage, I had to convince real estate agents to leave their company and move their business to our company. It was a daunting task that I was actually pretty good at, but there are way more agents who don’t work for us than do.
In any struggle is an opportunity. I decided to partner with our company president on a new concept of Broker Life, with the ability to reach agents across the country.
Broker Life – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Broker Life is an educational platform that aims to provide agents both locally and nationally with the tools to live the lives of their dreams with real estate being the vehicle.
We have hosted an annual conference called the Become Conference the last three years where provide the state required continued education for agents in Indiana to keep their license but have created an entire experience by flying in national speakers who believe what we believe. The conference is personal growth oriented. Nearly every speaker we have had on stage works with the crowd on more than just how to find the next real estate transaction. We are changing lives every time we step foot on stage.
To expand our impact, we have been building a video library and preparing for touring the conference in a few other cities outside of Indiana. Next year’s conference will be in April and we will have the opportunity to serve the 20,000 realtors in the Chicago market. We’ve been working with one of the speakers to take the conference into the New York market and have been in conversations with the Denver market. The sky’s the limit when it comes to helping people BECOME the person they were meant to become.
What were you like growing up? Personality wise, interest wise, etc.
I grew up very blue collar in a small town next to Gary, Indiana. If my parent’s generation wanted to make money, most of them turned toward working in the mills. My father started there and after being laid off, has worked as an auto mechanic the last 40+ years. You can find great pride in working with your hands and the resourcefulness that comes with it. My mother worked a few part time jobs in order to provide the things that my brother and I found important as young kids. Like that summer’s Air Jordans. I have definitely been inspired by that “whatever it takes the attitude” and have used that to focus on the creative ventures that have fascinated me most.
