Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Swoons.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Michelle. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Being a makeup artist since early 2000’s, I learned a lot about people and their skincare needs. I also learned that a lot of us weren’t doing what we needed to take care of our skin. So, I went back into the classroom and started teaching makeup artistry. I would teach anyone and everyone, from beginners to artists who need to update their craft I taught everyone as much as I could.
In classes, I would mix things together to create the perfect products, students were telling me to just make my own brand so they wouldn’t have to do all this just to get what they needed, so I did! I made a makeup brand infused with skincare, light reflecting pigments, and vitamins that are actually good for your skin!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The struggle is real out there, it’s been tough, but also very rewarding, nothing good is easy, and nothing easy is good…
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Face Beauty by MichelleSwoons – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in teaching makeup for all ability levels. I enjoy teaching more than anything. I have private classes as well as college courses at College of Dupage. I also have an educational certification program for people out there who are interested in becoming certified in makeup artistry. Over the years my teaching programs have evolved so much that I actually do that more than freelancing. Being a makeup artist has been one of the most fulfilling jobs ever. I’m really proud to have a brand based on empowerment, with all this hate in the world FACE was created to do the opposite. Facts, Action, Compassion, and Empowerment is what my brand is based on that’s how FACE was born.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I do! This is a time to shine for men and women actually. We have opportunities and positions to be better every day. Look at a very challenging position as an opportunity to grow, do better, and be a better person. I believe as our world evolves and changes it creates opportunities everywhere
