Life and Work with Jodi-Kay Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi-Kay Edwards.

Jodi-Kay , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am an Intuitive Success Coach, Social Media Manager, Influencer, Actress and Model. I make it my goal to show up to for myself and for others by being authentically me and living my life by design. I am doing everything I want to do and I encourage and help others to create a life for themselves where they can do the same.

I’m 28 soon to be 29 in October. I was born in Kingston Jamaica but moved to America when I was 7. I grew up in extreme poverty and from a very young age, I was taught that nothing worth having came easy and I would have to struggle. That didn’t feel right to me, especially as I got older and grew deeper in my spirituality. My brand Alignment is the New Hustle was inspired by just that, the hustle and how leaving it behind and choosing ease and flow opens us up to more possibilities in life. I was one of the very few women in my family to receive a Bachelors Degree, that’s a badge I wear with honor. Because of the sacrifices my mother made to put me in private school, I felt guilty about wanting more and I wasn’t sure how she would take me wanting to be an entrepreneur.

I put off this dream of mine for many years, but that’s the nature of a dream, when you live it and breathe it, it hangs out and nags you until you start fulfilling it. Following my soul’s purpose has filled me with so much joy, peace, and happiness but it took a lot for me to get her. I had to not only change but re-write my story. I had to ditch the scarcity mindset that had been ingrained in me for so long and level up! I traded the thoughts and actions that no longer served me for ones that did. I’ve stepped into this vortex where anything and everything is possible and I can’t imagine ever turning back.

I want to level down… said no one ever!

Has it been a smooth road?
A lot of the struggles I faced stemmed from past trauma. I was born in Kingston Jamaica, my family and I were very poor. When I came to America, my mom got divorced from the person who made it possible for us to even be in America in the first place. Every single penny she earned went towards making sure I could receive a proper education. Throughout high school and college, I was faced with this scarcity mindset that followed me well into being an adult.

With all that pain, trauma and neglect I turned to self-sabotaging. I developed an unhealthy relationship with food and to this day still, have a hard time loving the body I’m in. I encountered a few situations where my body was abused and that only lead to me hating it even more. I fell into this victims mindset trap where I felt like I wasn’t worthy and that bad things were always going to happen to me. The truth is I lived my life like that for a long time. I let myself play victim to the circumstances until one day I got so low, I was so depressed but instead of feeling sad, I was angry, I got mad at myself. I didn’t want to blame anyone for where my life ended up anymore. I’ve always had big dreams of being an entrepreneur, traveling the world and starting a movement in my community. The girl I was back then was stuck dreaming but the girl I am today is stuck doing and I used my obstacles to shift into an empowered stated instead of living life in a disempowered state.

For anyone who can relate to this story don’t believe that anyone ever has any power over you. At any given moment you can change your life. The situation may never feel perfect but you are so powerful, you can create change and forward momentum any time you decide to. The biggest battle you will have to face is the one with your mind. Rise up, level up, get up and show up. If you can do any of those during times of despair, hopelessness or trauma, you’ll find that you hold a certain guiding light to pull you through.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jodi-Kay Edwards – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am an Intuitive Success Coach, Digital Expert, and Social Media Manager. Through my teachings and talks, I change the lives and mindsets of entrepreneurs worldwide. A big part of what I do is helping entrepreneurs find their self-worth and grow their net worth by teaching them how to be their best resource.

What sets me apart from other coaches is I’m a one-stop shop. I’ve accumulated years and years of knowledge so when it comes to releasing abundance blocks and running successful Facebook Ads I’m able to guide each person that comes to me for help through the process. From finding your purpose and closing the sale I’m known for mindset and business strategies that are digestible and effective. It’s important to me that a strong foundation is built for the mind and business.

I’m obsessed, literally obsessed with connecting with that high vibe energy and helping others connect to that energy as well. Once connected, all of a sudden we become aware of this energy flow where abundance, love and the ability to play big flows into our life.

Another big part of what I do is to help entrepreneurs find their self-worth and grow their net worth by teaching them how to be their best resource. I’m all about deepening that mind-body connection and becoming energetically available for an abundant life.

A few years ago I felt lost, life was grim I didn’t feel like I had a purpose I was depressed, anxious and I just didn’t get why life wasn’t going the way I had expected it to. Here I was with a Bachelors degree, a job in Human Resources and a few coins in my pocket but I was extremely unhappy. I realized that the only person I had to blame was myself. I had to hop into this vehicle of change to bring myself to a new destination and the only vehicle I had access to bring me a change of scenery was my mind.

I’ve always been a creative person but I was playing small with that passion. My journey to entrepreneurship has been a bumpy one. I went from part-time blogger and full-time Human Resources Manager to full-time blogger and part-time Human Resources Manager and back and forth and back and forth. My first blog post was over 7 years ago, when I rebranded as a business coach a little over three years ago I knew I was finally on the right path. It took going from working full time to part time to full time to part time again to realize that my mission in life was to share my message with the world and inspire others to live out their soul’s purpose. I kept receiving this nudge from the Universe to go a certain direction. As I kept evolving and learning I documented my trial and error. I put new strategies to the test and I implemented this formula that worked so well I knew I had to teach it to other entrepreneurs. There was a lot of mindset and business strategy to get to where I am today so it’s only fitting that I can give this gift of clarity to others.

Who have you been inspired by?
I have always been inspired by Oprah. She has been through hell and back yet she shows up because she knows how much of an impact one action like that can make. She isn’t afraid to share her triumphs and setbacks and always holds her head up high. I remember rushing home from grade school so I could watch her show. I’ve written her a letter or two and have been following her journey and teachings for most of my life.
