Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Panton.
Brianna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began doing YouTube 3 years ago. It was the summer after my freshman year and college and I didn’t do as well as I hoped. I dedicated that summer to focus on me. I took two summer classes, got a job at the local mall as a key holder for a retail store and I decided to get healthy and lose my freshman 15 weight. I was not the most confident and my ego was bruised. I was very to my self and just focused on my goals. Didn’t go out that much or hang out with my friends a lot. In my spare time, I would watch Youtube videos. I loved everything about fashion, beauty and cosmetic related. The women I watched inspired me so much that I was like “If they can do this I can too!” and I started a YouTube. Ever since it has been my creative outlet for showing people who I am while also building the confidence of other women in the process.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been easy. It is very hard to be consistent on YouTube especially if you are in college like I was when I first started. I was heavily involved in extracurricular activities and organizations in college so my time was very limited. With having five classes worth of homework, meetings every other day and a social life it was very hard to stay consistent. Being consistent is one of the most important things when having a Youtube channel. On top of that, I never had enough money to properly invest in the right equipment because I always had something to pay for school related. I also had my moments where I was insecure about my channel. I didn’t have a lot of subscribers or views. I was insecure about the way I looked and sounded and my video quality wasn’t the best. This sometimes got in the way of me continuing to record videos. My advice for young women starting this journey is not to let insecurity, doubt, or fear get in the way your dreams and what you want to do. You have to have confidence in yourself and believe that you can do anything you want to do. There will be people that don’t understand what you’re doing or why you’re doing it but who cares, this is your life, not theirs.
Please tell us about Sincerely_BP.
I am a beauty influencer or YouTuber. I have a YouTube channel named Sincerely_BP. I do look for books, makeup tutorials, product reviews, hair reviews, skin care reviews and I motivate and inspire by discussing topics that are important to me. As a brand of myself, I am most proud that I am able to use my creativity to inspire people and help people become the best versions of themselves. My goal is to help people to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I want to help manifest abundance and growth in all aspects of people’s lives and I try to do that with my YouTube channel. I think what sets me apart from others is my goals. One of my main goals with my YouTube channel is to instill confidence in young women and women my age. For any girls that struggled with insecurities and confidence issues to find their inner self and to love themselves and who they are when they look in the mirror or walk into a room full of people.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Well, I was always made fun of when I was in grade school for being overweight. Kids used to call me fat and I’m a really sensitive person so that hurt my feelings. Ever since then, I’ve been very self-conscious about my weight and that has carried with me later on in life to being insecure in my looks and caring about how others perceive me. As I get older, I realize that other people’s perceptions of me do not matter, it’s about who I am and how I feel about myself.
