Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Gray.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve loved photography since I was a little girl. I always wanted a camera but never could afford it. When I attended Mississippi State, my freshman year, photography was my major until I realized that I didn’t need a degree in it to be successful at it. A couple a years ago, I stopped making excuses for myself, bought a camera, and started practicing shooting. My close friends were my muses (I still use them). Since then, I’ve never looked back. I’m not great at marketing, so I let my work bring in clients for me and I’ve been pretty successful at it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been struggling because, as I said, I’m not great at marketing and it’s hard to put myself out there so some months are slower than others. Especially, when I was in school and working another job; I had to take a break from photography because I just couldn’t do both. I was so stressful. Any passion you have isn’t going to be a smooth road so you just have to get through it and it gets better. I would say, to women that are trying to start their journey into something they really love, don’t give up. Especially for me, I’m just starting a YouTube channel for makeup, photography, etc. It is a lot of long hours and lost sleep to make sure your brand is A1. So, make sure what you are doing is really what you want to do and just go for it. Don’t doubt yourself, put your pride aside, put yourself out there, and don’t give up!
Please tell us about Bri’s Photography Info.
So, I am a photographer and soon to be YouTuber. With photography, I do everything; weddings, parties, engagements, portraits, etc.. I don’t like to specialize in anything because you’re putting yourself in this box. I want to be great at everything! I’m still in the midst of building my brand and how I want to shape it. I just love what I do, I love capturing moments that can last forever. Making sure that my clients are 100% satisfied with the photos and having fun while taking them.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Growing up, for the most part, it was just my mom, my older sister, and I. I was always taught to not ask anyone for anything. That has always stuck with me still to this day. It’s also a gift and a curse because when I do need help, I refuse to ask and I will make a way or deal with it on my own and no one would ever know that I was going through something. This definitely has helped me with success in my life now. It made me work harder so that I confidently said: “I did this on my own.”
