Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Rosca.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Patricia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an artistic person with an eye for detail, fashion and style. I have loved clothes and fashion for as long as I can remember. I’ve somehow always managed to find the best deals and put interesting outfits together. These outfits defined who I was, no matter what stage of life I was in or what my budget was.
People have always complimented my outfits and often asked where I shopped. A little over a year ago, I decided to start my own fashion/lifestyle blog as a creative outlet where I could share my style and inspire others. I also wanted to connect with other creatives and like-minded people that would inspire me in return.
Instagram has become my favorite platform to share daily posts and connect with so many amazing people that share common interests with me.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. When I first began my Instagram page it grew very quickly and easily. A few months into it, the algorithms changed, and it became much harder to grow and get my posts out there — both to my followers and the public.
It has been very discouraging at times, but thankfully, I have a few people in my life that have encouraged me to keep going and not give up. I have bad days where I battle with myself to keep at it but the truth is, I am not a quitter. I truly enjoy what I do, so I must push forward.
It can become challenging to balance family life and work. As a stay-at-home mom, my husband and kids are a priority and sometimes I’m too tired to write for my blog or I’m not feeling inspired. I don’t beat myself up over that, but when the ideas and inspiration do come, I make the time to write and complete the task. Nothing good comes easy and as long as I feel that, I am doing my best.
I try to be content with the results. The blogging world is always changing. There are constant lessons I am learning along the way. It’s essential to stay educated and connected to groups and companies that are there to help and support. For anyone starting out, my advice is to be yourself and don’t copy what others are doing. Stand out from the crowd by being unique and true to yourself.
What should we know about Citrus and Honey? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Most of my blog is about fashion — specifically my personal style. My style is classic and preppy, while also remaining trendy. At its core, my style stays the same, but it’s always evolving to some degree. I have been a stay-at-home mom for the last 16 years, and I believe in dressing for myself, so I can look and feel good as I go about my daily activities.
I think the way I present myself to the world is important. It shows I respect myself and the people around me. I always have a better day when I put a little effort into my appearance and the clothes I’m wearing. I want to inspire others to do the same.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I recently took a trip to Paris and have since been a little obsessed with French fashion and style. I’ve been devouring books such as “Dress Like a Parisian” by Alois Guinut, “All You Need To Be Impossibly French” by Helena Frith Powell, “How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are” by A. Berest, A. Diwan, and S. Mas and “Lessons From Madame Chic” by Jennifer L. Scott.
I don’t listen to too many podcasts, but I have discovered “The Simple Sophisticate,” and I’m always inspired by what Shannon Ables shares.
