Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Schaefer.
Lindsey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story is a little different than most. My husband was military for 11 years and we moved all over and while I have always been a licensed cosmetologist I was busy having our four babies. We finally got to Florida where I decided to become a freelance hair and makeup artist, so I could still pursue my passion and be a “stay at home mom.” Especially, during deployments. I use only social media to propel my brand and it took off. My husband changed jobs which brought us to Chicago. I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without that man. I’ve worked with Christian Siriano, the CMAS, and have done several cover shoots. I absolutely love what I do and love that I can lift people with my skill.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not been a smooth road. It’s presented challenges for sure. Just balancing motherhood and your career is a challenge and I’m still learning every day.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in event hair and makeup along with hair extensions. You have a red carpet event or wedding, whatever it might be, I can be your personal glam squad. All while being at the client’s location. I also dabble in illusion makeup which is an awesome creative outlet.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Be patient. Don’t rush the process and don’t lose sight of what’s really important. That happened to me. I got caught up and started letting important things fall to the wayside.
