Check out Alison Hixon’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Hixon.

Alison, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in Iowa but have been based here on the North side of Chicago in Rogers Park for 5 years.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m interested and inspired by women, nature, fashion, dreams, music, self-development, and sisterhood. My body of work features a range of hand drawn and digital illustrations. My illustrations are made with ink and watercolor on paper. My work comes off as very whimsical and I love telling stories through my art.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Being successful to me means always working, always creating, and always being open to new ideas and challenges. Being an honest advocate for yourself and your art and never limiting yourself. I think the most important characteristic for an artist is to stay curious.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have my website where anyone can stop by and take a look at current work and also order private commissions, and prints. One of my favorite things is creating personalized illustrations for people whether it be a couple, family, pet, friend, or self- portrait. I love collaborating and highlighting special moments and relationships for people to cherish forever. Check out my work and let’s collaborate together!

Alison Hixon is truely a hidden gem. I own one of her pieces and am anxious to acquire more. I am a licensed mental health therapist and view Alison’s work as illustrating the human condition from a woman’s point of veiw. Her pieces are raw, honest and depict a fresh perspective. Voyage Chicago, Thank You for all that you do. Alison Hixon deserves to be a poster child of all that is good about the Chicago art community!
