Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Halack.
Matt, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started Grateful Bites catering in 2012! After two years we purchased a mobile wood-burning oven and hit the road. We started out at local farmers markets and catering family reunions, weddings and block parties. We were fortunate to gather a following and decided to open a brick and mortar Shoppe in June of 2017!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have five children so balancing work and family has been challenging. Fortunately, our Pizza Shoppe is close to home! In the beginning months staffing was a challenge but we are very lucky to have found a hardworking, trustworthy group of individuals to help our business grow!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Grateful Bites Pizza Shoppe – what should we know?
We are very conscious of where we source our ingredients. We have a natural sourdough starter which is used to make our dough. We offer a variety of wood-fired pizzas, some traditional but a few unique ones.
One of the favorites is the Elote, which is a play on the Mexican street food. It is a white pizza with roasted corn, chili powder, mayo, and cilantro. Another popular pizza is our Pepperoni with Hot Honey.
We drizzle honey which is infused with Habanero Peppers after it comes out of the oven. Lastly, we make a house Giardiniera which takes our Sausage pizza to another level!
