So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
20 years ago my beauty love affair begin when my then stay at home mother modeled in her college fashion show. I witnessed my mother turn from house wife to run way model. Her round full Afro morphed into a sleek ponytail and her chiseled features were painted for the gawds as they now say. This was my introduction to a beauty-ti-ful life. I wish that I had a glamorous story to tell you but I’d like to call the start of my career unfortunate divinity, being a makeup artist wasn’t my goal. I start out studying psychology and as faith would have it I needed a makeup artist myself so I became one. I had the embarrassing acne and I found myself going to every kind of doctor that my parents and myself could afford. It plummeted my self-esteem to an all-time low because I didn’t get the results that I thought that I should have based on my depleted account balance I turn to makeup to make me look and feel better about my skin. I perfected my foundation application so well that nobody knew just how scared my skin really was but later on in my late twenties to my mid-thirties I ate, breathed and slept skincare. Attending two different schools of esthetics, traveling the glob visiting different spas, working alongside doctors and having doctors and nurses as clients and friends it catapulted my knowledge into an expert realm. I am a professional makeup artist that is an Esthetician. From there my career took off because my transformed skin and seamless make up application lead the way. You know the saying your gift will make room for you and it did.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s challenges in everything of course but I needed to balance my work life balance like many parents. I myself was a stay at home mom but wanted to nurture my talent. Weekends and late nights were for honing in on my craft. You gotta give up something to be great. Unfortunately for me it the little sleep that I still wasn’t getting having to young children.

Today my business is the business of beauty. I teach, speak, motivate demonstrate, and spotlight all that this business of has to offer by showcasing my work. I am the lead makeup artist for Chicago’s very own Windy City live Show for Mighty Artist Productions by way of WLS channel 7. In addition, I’m a licensed Esthetician who just happen to win Esthetician of the year!! Toot! Toot! I am affectionately known to many as the Brow Whisperer. Does this make me something like an expert?! Lol! What sets me apart is that I understand that makeup, skincare, health and self-esteem are a complete package. I have shared my ugly duckling story and there is a beautiful swan waiting if we have the correct technique, knowledge, products and someone who can convey the message. I most proud that I am able to share my knowledge with anyone who will listen.
What were you like growing up?
Believe it or not I was a stylish tomboy! You couldn’t out shoe me with the jumpers but I was had a thirst for knowledge. I wanted to know eeeeeeverything! I was a little nerdy but wise beyond my years. When you spend eighty percent of your time with your grandmother my out let was books or nothing but I am thankful for it.
