Today we’d like to introduce you to Passion Thirteen.
Passion, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
All of my life I’ve always liked to create and would always be making things but I got my first real experience as a photographer in high school through this program called AfterSchool Matters shooting for their magazine called TrueStar but it wasn’t until 2013 after having my son that I decided to pursue it seriously and I then spent the next 3-4 years traveling meeting & working with creatives that specialized in various mediums which gave me enough hands on experience and inspiration to use my skills to make my own creative agency
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nah, it’s hasn’t been smooth at all me being who I am and doing what I do it’s been a very interesting rollercoaster to say the least and sometimes you question life A LOT it’s like I feel like I don’t really know what I’m doing but I’m doing what I know so despite the struggles like battling mental health issues, equipment loss & juggling motherhood vs being a creative I try to still just push through the odds against me cause this all I got it’s nothing else I could imagine myself doing and am not willing to settle for less
THIRTEEN STUDIO – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is called THIRTEEN STUDIO and it’s a creative agency specializing in photography, fashion styling, talent casting, creative direction & more. What my brand is known for and what sets it apart from others is the uniqueness of the content it’s bold and edgy testing perspectives mixing mediums instead of just doing things cliché
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
A lot of people say if you can make it in Chicago you can make it anywhere and from traveling I’ve learned that to be true cause Chicago is not for the weak and is a great place to get real cutthroat training of things NOT to do I also like that you can get a lot of perks of living in a big city but it’s still less expensive than the other big cites BUT I hate how obviously segregated it is and I feel like the more we truly come together for our city the better it will be.
