Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Nevarez.
Maria, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Well I feel that I got a late start in photography. About 7 years ago, I was noticing light a little bit different and how scenes were composed. I started taking pictures with my cell phone and just loved being able to capture interesting subjects. I especially took a liking to architectural photography. There was something beautiful about how all these lines and shapes came together to form such massive structures.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
As I mentioned, I am mainly an architectural photographer. In my opinion, Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world in regards to architecture. I love capturing the classics but always try to find unique perspectives. Whether it be from the streets, Lake Michigan, or from a rooftop of one of the many bars in Chicago, every view is spectacular. I want people to see my images and think to themselves, “Chicago is a beautiful city”.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Plain and simple, just be you. Every artist has their own unique perspective. It’s ok to use other photographer’s as inspiration but definitely find your own creative niche.
