Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Randall.
Angie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a Chicagoan – born and raised – and before starting SocialChow, I spent the last 10 years of my professional life in marketing and advertising working with brands like Hyatt, Sprint, and NASCAR. While working my way up the corporate ladder always seemed like the “right” thing to do, I decided to quit my job unexpectedly (very unlike me!) and instead focus on something I was passionate about – insert, SocialChow.
First and foremost, I wanted to work 1:1 with real people and brands I believed in which is why I started SocialChow, a virtual social media agency. We all know that social media is booming, so it was not only an incredibly effective form of marketing but allowed me the flexibility to be a working mom who could manage my own schedule.
Since starting SocialChow in early 2017, we’ve grown to a team of 6, represent a plethora of lifestyle brands across the US and have had some amazing success with our clients. It’s become one of the most rewarding parts of my life, and something that I’m really proud of. I’ve worked really hard to get to where we are today.
Has it been a smooth road?
Running a business is the labor of love, to say the least, and a never-ending learning process! Every day, I am learning something new and tackling the challenges that come my way. When I was starting my business, it was all about learning the ropes of a small business owner – from basic accounting to set up processes to searching for new clients. Now, after becoming more established, I’m faced with new obstacles like expanding our team, balancing life as a working mom, and to learning to say “no” to work (yes, you sometimes have to!). It’s a constant-process and that’s honestly what makes it interesting though! I’ve learned though that you’ve gotta keep your eye on your goal and realize that sometimes growth doesn’t have to be linear.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with SocialChow – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
SocialChow specializes in bringing brands to life through social media channels. We showcase who you are and what you offer in an authentic and natural light.
The truth is, consumers don’t care about big brands – they care about what’s behind the brand – their mission, beliefs and especially the people behind the scenes who sometimes are the brand. So, we work with our clients to strategically determine how to share their story and showcase their business to not only achieve their financial objectives but also to build their brand equity.
We do this through Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest – channels where consumers are constantly active and engaged. Whether they are seeking entertainment or information, we are able to engage with them and build meaningful relationships through a natural dialogue. It’s been pretty awesome to see the brands we work with obtain tangible results.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Absolutely – I was brought up by two parents who ran their own business and were great role models. They not only did what they loved to do but were really successful because of it. Their work fulfilled them and it showed. I am hopeful that my business continues to follow in their footsteps and allows me not only professional success but the ability to spend time with my family and to do other things in life that bring me happiness and fulfillment.
