Under the leadership of Jerry E. Bern Jr., a sixth-generation jeweler, The Bern family has been serving Chicago since 1897 with the family purchasing the well-established Chicago jewelry store, Marshall Pierce & Company, in 1967. The legacy has been strengthened with Jerry’s son, Evan Bern, joining the Marshall Pierce team in 2009. Through the decades the Bern family has developed deep relationships with the most prestigious manufacturers in the industry. Marshall Pierce & Company’s renowned jewelry lines range from the timeless designs of Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Mikimoto and De Grisogono to the largest selection of prestigious watch lines in Chicago. In 2015, the store moved to a larger and more prestigious location on the Magnificent Mile (right around the corner from Oak Street) and are now in their 89th year serving Chicagoland.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moving to a new location after being in the same building for over 80 years was a big transition both for our clients and our own team. One challenge was addressing our new clientele in our new location with a different approach than before while still maintain past relationships. Nothing is without hard work but now that we have been in our current location for almost two years, things are going better every day.

We are a full-service jewelry and watch store specializing in exceptional timepieces including vintage timepieces. We are an authorized dealer for seven watch brands and over ten jewelry brands including some of the best names in the business such as Oscar Heyman and Mikimoto. We are a one-stop-shop for repairs as well as custom orders and designs. Our bridal section is where clients can have unlimited options with our connections to some of the best diamond dealers in the country which allows us to price our stones very competitively.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
No big changes going forward as we are still in the stage of settling into our new location. Our future plans include more emphasis on our custom bridal collection and highly curated watches for the connoisseur.
