Today we’d like to introduce you to John and Vince Pinto.
Thanks for sharing your story with us John and Vince. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started back in 2012, when Vince decided to hop on a train and head to Chicago. His intentions were to just go and explore the city and shoot videos off his new DSLR camera. Meanwhile, John decided to join for the journey with his acoustic guitar. At the time, John was a musician under the name of, “The Young Gentleman”. When John asked Vince what he was going to shoot that day, Vince really had no vision; he just wanted to shoot. The result of that day ended up turning into a music video for a song that John wrote. Once we edited it together and posted it online, everyone started to react to it positively. We started to realize our dynamic as a team and we both knew that if we continued to create, we could make this a reality.
Our first “studio” started out of our parent’s basement in 2012. From August 2012-May 2016, Vince was attending college at Illinois State University. Meanwhile, John was already graduated from Eastern Illinois. We both continued to grow our business together while being separated. Once Vince graduated in May of 2016, we rented our first studio at the Bridgeport Art Center. We commuted from the suburb of Tinley Park every day for 6 months to work at our new studio. We wanted to be closer to the city of Chicago, so in February of 2017, we took a risk and accepted an opportunity to move into our third studio space in River North.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always going to be challenges when starting a business from scratch. We quickly learned that if we were going to be serious about running a business, we needed to play to our strengths while wearing a lot of hats. In the beginning, it was interesting establishing the roles that we are currently in, but with patience and dedication, our roles showed themselves naturally. We have put in countless hours practicing new techniques and learning about new technology in order to keep up with the industry. The hardest part was understanding how we could do something we love while supporting ourselves financially. Long story short, if it was easy, everybody would do it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are brothers, business partners and best friends. We specialize in video production, photography and design. We are mainly known for our ability to tell stories cinematically through video. We are proud to see how far we have come without the financial support of any third parties, everything we have, is everything we have worked for. We understand people, it’s simple… we call it the “JV experience”.
What were you like growing up?
We come from a big Italian family that are a group of self-made individuals. Our grandfather and uncle run a barbershop in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago and our father has a DJ business. Our strong family foundation led us to work hard, take care of others, and treat people as we want to be treated. In turn, our business is running with transparency and honesty. A company that values and respects human beings.
