Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Matthews.
Paul, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a former athlete, I suffered from a series of football injuries that led to two spine surgeries that forever changed my life and instilled a passion in me to help others dealing with injury and pain. My passion to live an active pain free life not only drove me to make a full recovery when I was told it was otherwise impossible, but it inspired me to immerse myself into understanding the most cutting-edge advancements in sports medicine, recovery technologies, rehabilitation and soft tissue techniques. Navigating the road to recovery wasn’t easy. The challenges I faced on my path to wellness were many, but the journey that started out as the patient on the table forged the path to the most optimal comprehensive solution. I went back to school to further my education and explored about every option under the sun from all the traditional pathways including pain management, surgery and physical therapy to alternative options including varying forms of soft-tissue intervention, chiropractic, acupuncture, cryotherapy, etc… I discovered that most often the best results are found with a multifaceted approach combining different therapies and recovery mechanisms. The vision became clear, create a center that put all these options under one roof. Passionate and highly skilled professionals combined with the most advanced technologies for recovery and healing. It is my greatest privilege and honor to be able to help so many suffering from pain, injury or performance related issues back to a place of balance, optimal function and pain free living.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Some of my best memories are from us personally building Elite with our own capital and doing most of the work ourselves. When you start out with a vision that is unique, the road is always difficult but definitely a road worth traveling. I am building this brand with my partners to help people experience superior results, no matter their goals and also to build a solid foundation for my family. It has been hard being away from them at times when the business requires me to be, but they are behind me 110% and that makes the struggles worth it at the end of the day.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Elite Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
To me, Elite Wellness is a state of the art facility fueled by unrelenting passion to provide its customers with the most cutting-edge therapy and recovery technologies. Truly, I have never seen or heard of a more comprehensive facility.
My passion is to help people recover from injury, pain or movement dysfunction through the intervention of highly technical soft tissue manipulation combined with cutting edge movement based assessments and strengthening protocols.
Building our company together with a relentless passion for helping others is what I’m most proud of as a company.
