Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Hollums.
Christian, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My passion is people. I am the founder of a growing group of creatives called the Wayfare Collective. When I began photography my primary mode of learning was digital. I wanted to create a space and a community where professionals and non-professionals could thrive. That community brought me to Chicago where I met extremely talented creatives from the Chicago community. My first love is people and my second is photography.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My primary medium is digital art (photography), but I also love to draw and paint when I can. Creating has always come naturally to me, and I grew up around artistic grandparents. One of the most intriguing aspects of creating art is the process. I love the process. I love the challenges that come along with it. I find that I learn from the failures and the successes that accompany the creative process.
My artwork tends to fall into multiple genres that reflect the nature of who I am. I hope that when people look at my art for just one moment they enter into all the aesthetic and transcendental experiences I’ve had in creating it.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is difficult to define. For me, success is to be enlightened by the entire creative process. To be saved by it. To become entirely self-aware through the process itself. In that process, you find failure is just as important to success and success itself.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
My current focus is on the Wayfare Collective community as a whole. I spend little time trying to build up my own personal brand, but what work I have is in Anchorage, Alaska at my studio.
