Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Yureva.
Julia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I came to the United States 2o years ago to pursue “American dreams”. I graduated from Devry University with the BA of Computer science and worked for Morningstar Inc. for about 10 years handling different roles from Sales and Support, QA and clearing specialist for Morningstar Managed Portfolios subsidiary.
However, my dreams job was always to help and educate my Russian speaking community who often times needed help. My best friend Tatiana who has an accounting practice asked me if I would be interested in learning insurance lines and helping our community to learn insurance basics and coverage’s.
I decided to specialize in individual medical insurance in 2013 when Healthcare reform was about to begin. Soon after I picked up Property and casualty, commercial business. I get to meet too many new business owners like myself.
Has it been a smooth road?
I cannot complain at all. My clients are my friends and through help and honesty I guess I earned their trust and respect. Overall, it was a smooth road with lots of afterhours work.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nine Lives Agency story. Tell us more about the business.
We are not your regular insurance agency. We do not advertise. We do not looks for new business. You can only come to us by referrals. It’s sort of like a closed “society” where everyone deserves true answers and honest consultations. We do not up sell or cross sells. We know all family members. We care for all of them sincerely. There are now 3 people in my agency and my motto is “Sell through consulting and educating”
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In 5-10 years I am hoping that each one of my employees with concentrate on a line of business they truly enjoy working with. May be we will start something new. For example, we started working a lot with trucking. Now we open corporations, we do fillings, new reports… My son is now 15 and often time he comes and help me with data entry. My husband is a talented programmer and I hope in the future we can help other agencies cut costs and help them make businesses more efficient. I have so many ideas every day!
