Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Brown.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lauren. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Ever since I was a little girl, I was always in love with fashion and beauty. I would practice on anyone and everyone’s hair, and I was constantly trying out new fashion trends. Needless to say, it was no surprise to my family that I wanted to go to beauty school. At just 16 years old, I decided to sign up, and I never looked back. I then began working at a local salon as an assistant just a few months before starting beauty school. I was in heaven! I could really go to work every day, connect with people all day, and make them feel beautiful?!
It was at this salon I met my future business partner, Tina who was, and still is my mentor. 1 year after I had graduated from both beauty school and high school, she and I attended a class about salon business. This is when we decided to begin our dream of owning a salon. We decided to branch out on our own in August of 2007-right as the economy was plummeting. I was 20 years old and full of hope, passion, and in all honesty, I was fearless.
11 years later, here I am – a salon owner and beauty influencer. In the past decade, I may have added few more titles under my name – London Eyes Makeup School Graduate, Certified Yoga Instructor, Kett Cosmetics Certified Makeup Artist, Women Entrepreneur, and Wife, but the one thing that has never changed is my passion for the beauty industry. This is just the beginning of my journey, and I can’t wait to see what’s still to come!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every journey comes with obstacles! A lot of laughter, tears, and headaches came with running a salon. There were many days I wasn’t sure being an owner was right for me, but instead of focusing on the chaos, I would remind myself of all the reasons I truly love my role!
My advice to any woman starting their own business is to never give up. When it all seems impossible, keep pushing. Learn from every experience and every other entrepreneur you meet-it will only make you stronger and smarter!
We’d love to hear more about T Lorén Studio.
I am a well-rounded hairdresser and makeup artist. I love to create a look for a special event, photoshoot, or as simple as a woman’s everyday look. Color correction and makeup are my two strengths. I love being able to transform women to make them feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. My calm and caring nature, allows me to create a relaxing, but fun experience while my guest and I spend time together. I make sure to educate each woman individually with knowledge behind skin care, makeup, and hair care.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
1. Be fearless. You are capable of way more than you think!
2. Stay educated. Every industry is forever evolving, and you should push yourself to evolve with it!
3. Self Love. Always carve out time to take care of yourself both inside and out. A healthier you is a better you!
