Meet Suhail Mohiuddin, Hany Kurdi and Oussama Founas of Dentologie in South Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suhail Mohiuddin, Hany Kurdi and Oussama Founas.

Suhail, Hany, and Oussama, please share your story with us. 
Our story starts 15 years ago when all three of us became best friends while attending the University of Michigan. After we all decided to pursue a career in dentistry we moved to Chicago in 2010. We began thinking about how we could change the way people experience going to the dentist. Five years ago we founded Dentologie, a forward thinking dental practice that is built on amazing customer service, beautifully designed interiors, and an unbelievably patient experience. The foundation of our model was based on great communication. Every single one of our patients left our practice with our direct email in hand. Unlike traditional dental practices, we encouraged our patients to reach out to us after-hours to ask any follow-up questions. What we realized was quickly is by giving our patients direct access to us we were able to build great relationships with our patients that led to amazing care. We started with two employees and one practice. Now we have a team of 70 including 12 dentists and two locations while a third that will open later this year. We plan on opening 5 more locations in the city of Chicago over the next few years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Our biggest challenge initially was hearing naysayers within the profession that our model that focused on beautifully designed interiors and superior customer service was too difficult to sustain and could not be profitable. But as we doubled down on the patient experience our customers grew. We see over 600 new patients per month between our two practices. We now speak nationally to younger dentists looking to open practices that focus on the patient experience.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dentologie – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We started as a general dentistry practice but along our journey, we became one of the largest Invisalign providers in the city of Chicago and quickly realized how frustrating the process was for our patients. From the nonstop appointments and high costs to the lack of communication with the treating dentist, we knew there needs to be a better way. Last year we launched SmileCycle, a process that uses a combination of in-person visits and virtual check-ins via an app to decreased the number of appointments needed to complete Invisalign treatment from 15 to 4. Because we were able to decrease chair time for our patients we are able to provide SmileCycle at half the cost compared to traditional methods used by dentists and orthodontists.

We are firm believers in hiring amazing people. Our team of 70 are some the most talented, hardworking, and fun people in the world. Each one takes pride in delivering a great customer experience. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.

We also have about 20,000 active patients in downtown Chicago that are just awesome. We have literally been taken aback by the texts, emails, and reviews of from them telling us how much they love our practices. They are truly our number one motivator to keep building and perfecting our business.
