Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia and Eliot Munro.
Patricia began training as a hair stylist at the age of 18. After completing her training, she was given the opportunity to work at one of Chicago’s most prestigious salons. Patricia remained at this salon for the next 13 years. Over that time, she continued to develop her skills and eventually, her hard-work and expertise paid off as she became the Education Director for three salons. Patricia spent many years traveling the world drawing inspiration from the most elite hairdressers in the industry. Patricia was able to share her 13 years of experience and knowledge with those whom she has trained. Patricia has been featured in Sun-Times, on Fox News, WGN, Chicago Magazine and The Guiliana and Bill (Rancic) show. Patricia has also assisted in makeovers, T.V. Shows, and participated in many fashion shows. She believes “education is the key to one’s success.” As the Owner of Patricia Marie Salon 2014, Patricia is excited to be surrounded by such a great team and will always be looking for ways to give back to show her gratitude.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a hairdresser is never a smooth ride. When people say being a hairdresser must be such an easy/fun/relaxing/glamorous job! I can’t help but laugh a little. Yes, the beauty industry is a great outlet for creative people, but the behind scenes are far from glamorous. The truth is we don’t get breaks, in fact, lunches consist of scarfing down what you can fit in your mouth in 2 mins. Lol. We are constantly doing laundry, cleaning, have no time for ourselves to get pampered, we become an unintentional therapist, and have ZERO paid benefits. I’m usually trying to squeeze clients in or filling gaps on cancellations just to make that commitment. So, why do I do it you might ask. It’s that smile my clients give me as they leave my chair, it’s that self-esteem and confidence radiating off of that new client, it’s making someone’s day bad to great, it’s the appreciation I receive knowing that I’ve improved their quality of life. To be a good hairdresser you have to love what you do even through the struggles.

Patricia Marie Salon specializes in haircuts, color, extensions, keratin treatments, weddings, and of course blowouts. We bring the Gold Coast hairdresser to Lincoln Park at a good value. My husband and I run things together and are able to utilize both of our strengths together as a team, and also for our teammates. As the owners of Patricia Marie Salon, Eliot and I are committed to passing on our many years of experience with our fellow co-workers. Eliot and I make sure to provide a positive, relaxing, and upbeat atmosphere for everyone. As a salon tell us about your needs and we will make sure you have the perfect stylists to give you the look you love. Besides talent service has always been a top priority for us, making sure every client is well being taken care of. “Without our clients, we would have nothing”! “We welcome every age and specialize in a variety of styles.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, nothing. I’ve learned so much about my journey, and have developed many long-lasting friendships along the way. I met my husband, best friends, mentors, and have gained so much valuable advice/knowledge throughout the years. If I had to say something it would be to be better on my body. Practice better posture, not wear heels, always work on a mat, and schedule breaks.
