Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Ross.
Ariel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always loved pictures – they tell stories, help you relive memories and just make you feel. If you were to ask any of my friends growing up there wasn’t a time when I did not have a camera in my hands. I have thousands of pictures and videos of just the things and people that were around me and this was before your phone was a camera.
When it came time to choose a career path, it was clear that something with photos and video was the way to go. After taking a gap year I headed to film school.
During school, I took the time to LLC myself and start my own business REL Productions, where I used my love of photography and video to tell stories and capture moments.
While running my business, I have also done freelance work and worked at an ad agency working to always improve my craft.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe no road is easy. Whether it’s dealing with a difficult client or actually booking a client, learning what the new technology is, or even finding the time to get all the work done – running a business takes a lot of work. But I do think that all the effort put in makes it worth while.
Please tell us about REL Productions.
REL Productions is a little bit of everything when it comes to media.
We make videos, whether its a video highlighting a not for profit, a music video, a promotional piece, or a documentary. We shoot, direct edit and do sound to make your vision come to life. And if you just want something edited we will do that for you too!
We take photos, whether its portraits, events, headshots, family reunions, babies – you want it photographed we can do that.
AND we have a photo booth! The photobooth was just something that we thought was a little extra that we can offer to make a party or event that much BETTER! We love photos and what a way for people to have fun than to take their own photos!
I’m proud of everything we do but what I probably enjoy the most is taking portraits – I think a picture is worth a thousand words and taking someone’s picture and really thinking it through from location to color to editing it afterword tells a beautiful story.
I think what sets us apart is that we love what we do and we want our clients to love it too!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Just pick one!? Honestly, I still feel like a child most days. If I had to think about my favorite memory it would be snapshots of fun – jumping into a pool, eating ice-cream, skiing down a mountain, watching Disney movies, coloring with chalk and laughing – I’m pretty sure the most important part is laughing. Really what is more important than having fun and laughing as a kid?
