Art & Life with Eric Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Williams, The Other Eric.

Eric, The , please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
West Side of Chicago born and raised. Grew up playing piano and drums. Self taught myself how to engineer and produce. Became an artist after the artist i made a song for never found the time to finish the song. I want to prove to myself that i can make it more than anyone else. I want to motivate the following generations to see it can be done. I believe good music will alway prevail.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a singer/songwriter/engineer/producer. I make soulful music. I use common experiences and tell a story from my perspective. I just love music. No matter what i do in life, music has always been a constant. There is a void for my type of music. If the music you want/like to hear isnt being played then that’s the music you should be making. I want people to not to be afraid to be themselves. I want people to move without outside pressure or influences. Even if those influences are all you know/knew. I want people to step away from their traditions and criticisms and find themselves. They could very well be the same after they “search” but i encourage people to try to find themselves. I make music for people to feel and not just hear. i want my music to effect people beyond their ears. if my music doesnt make you think or feel then I didn’t do my job. I used to draw and do photography a little, i feel like it’s all one. Art and photos and music all tell a story beyond what’s on the “surface” I’m an artist. I love to Art

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
Social media is HUGE. It can help or hurt you. Just like most other tools, it depends on who’s hand’s its in. It’s easier to share if people on social media are following. Their always only a few clicks away. 3 words…Link In Bio People didn’t always walk around with Cd players, but NOBODY walks around without a phone these days. We have to support if you really like an artist. Chicago is a tough and prideful city. People are used to keeping things to themselves because it could come back negative sometimes. A lot of Chicagoans want to stick together but don’t know if that love will be reciprocated. So they hold on to their support and “praises” Granted not everyone will feel that the next guy is great but if they are the only way others will know is if the public speaks up and support.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
