Today we’d like to introduce you to Meiling Jin.
Meiling, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Northern China. I came to America at the age of 15 in the year 2007 when my mother married an American man. I started writing about my life in America, and started interviewing American and Chinese celebrities (including John legend, Dan Aykroyd, Patrick Stewart, Oliver Stone, etc), and gaining face recognizance in China with average 400,000 readers per story on Chinese website. In 4 years, I have had more than 58 million readers of my website homepage. A recent graduate student from Columbia College Chicago with a Broadcast Journalism degree. And right after my graduation, I started my own production company, “Studio Meiling Productions, LLC,” and started producing entertainment content shows. My first show was a sitcom, named “Chop Chop TV show,” finished filming the whole season, and aired on a local channel. And I am still continuing producing more shows. Besides doing on-camera interviews and producing shows, I have also done print and promotional modeling, and have appeared in many publications. Right now, I am just starting with my social network influencing work as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, not. I almost committed suicide when I was 12. Yes, that young! For interviews, I had to knock on doors, and doing networks to get my name out there in the American market. For TV productions, pitching always hits the wall.

Our Studio Meiling Productions, specializes in anything that’s involved in artistic content, anything from news content, to industrial commercials, fashion content, and of course, our main one is producing entertainment shows.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Since I am a minority in America, I definitely love the diversity here in Chicago! Rich in culture, and we are a big melting pot for sure! Honestly, everyone complains about the weather, but I don’t. Weather never affects me, since I was born and raised in the place also has similar weather as Chicago. I love that we have the city and water are so close to each other. And I can just hop on the L train or a bus, easily get to anywhere I want in the city.
The least about the city is the city tax and the crime areas. Probably most people will agree with me on that!
