Meet Salvatore Cincotta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salvatore Cincotta.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am an entrepreneur, an artist, a director, and a professional photographer.

11 years ago, I started this business in my basement with less than $10k in the bank. Today, we are an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Company 3 years in a row. It’s not luck. It’s not timing. It’s not about handouts. It’s about one thing, hard work.

I believe success is about working harder and longer than your competitors. It’s about doing the things that no one else wants to do. My story is about drive, determination, perseverance, and success.

Today, we own the largest professional photography magazine in the world. Shutter Magazine is a resource for photographers around the world. It’s been an incredible journey. I would not have the success I have had without the incredibly dedicated people around me. In addition, we own several other companies focused in the creative space.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a wedding photographer and a video producer. I love weddings. I don’t know, people think I am crazy, but there is something about the buzz and chaos of a wedding day that really gets me fired up. It’s a series of mini-emergencies and my job is to document it. Yeah. I love it. 🙂

My goal is to not only capture the day for my clients. We are documentaries, but I also want to capture a single image, an epic image of the day. One, they will look at for years to come and remember their day every time they walk into their home. That’s my passion.

On the video side, we produce commercials and work with small-businesses. I love this part of the business. I thoroughly enjoy sitting with business owners and understanding the challenges of the project, the messaging, the vision. My job is to bring that to life visually. It’s incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding when you nail it.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
Art is so subjective. That’s kinda the point. There is no right or wrong answer. Artists have different ways of expressing that art. And let’s be clear, “art” is not in the typical sense. Most people think of art as painting, or photography, etc. However, I think of art as anything and everything that is next level. Food is art. You have had a burger at a chain restaurant, haven’t you? That’s food. And even that’s being generous. When you have a burger prepared by a chef / artisan – you know the difference. It’s about the ingredients, the way it is prepared, the way it is presented, etc.

Artists, in many ways, are visual interpreters. They can take what they see, hear, smell, taste and present it in a unique way to the world that challenges us. Because of that, national and international events are inputs for us. It has a huge effect on how people see and experience the world. This has been true throughout history.
