Art & Life with Catia Cuncu, Catia of Cagliari

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catia Cuncu, Catia of Cagliari.

Catia, Catia of Cagliari, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My story is very simple, I grew up in Sardinia, and for the vicissitudes of life since I was a child I looked after myself. Life in the island flows between the sun, the waves of the sea and the mountains, which are for me a source of inspiration. I spend most of my days studying, designing and writing in my artistic studio of calligraphy and lettering design, miniature and iconography, created in 2001, thus recovering the beautiful writing, that of the amanuensis, as a working tool for the most moments beautiful and important that mark our lives. I am a Calligrapher and a Miniaturist by profession and as such I’ve care and respect. In art Catia from Cagliari, formed with Italian and foreign professors, in the English academy I obtain specialized diplomas of calligraphy and lettering. In these years I have participated in numerous events with historical and modern artistic representations, touring throughout the region, an unusual but gratifying way of making known this subject, always evolving. My base is in the world!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Spacing from Classical Calligraphy, to Expressive and Gestural Artistic Calligraphy, I do not create only works, but I propose creations of unforgettable events, product designs, historical and modern representations of calligraphy, scenographys; projects to events of all kinds and theme events, with exclusive, elegant, high-quality co-ordinates, advertising campaigns, inaugurations of companies and brands, with customization of gadgets at the time, completely hand-written. Every single piece is designed, and carefully worked with finishes and attention to detail for the most demanding. Each event can be embellished with 24ct gold and special decorations, exclusive seals in sealing wax, so the Calligrafa’s work emerges in all its splendor, charm and refinement, revealing a classy note.
Not only paper …… from calligraphy you could get fruits in a thousand ways to make the difference, such as engraving in the stone or scenographic written on the walls. That’s why I love my work, I can space, build, reproduce antiquities, documents or create one, using canvas, paper, wood or a body, and if I want a page or a book, I write and realize.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is an abstract word. It is the value of the person that counts, how it interacts with friends, acquaintances, in society. The success, the real one, it is never ostentatious, it does not need it, and its essential quality is simplicity.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
It’s my usual to make known the work and all the details, photos, events, and references, in the available modes, such as socials, site and especially word of mouth, the connections in the life social, the strictly calligraphy business cards are fundamental.

I do not have a magic wand but to be able to earn through art, I do everything possible for can make up for my needs. It is very difficult to concentrate and be creative when in unison there are problems to solve that do not make you sleep at night, this is not a secret and I want to reiterate it. I think it also takes want a bit of luck in life, combined with the ability, determination and truly love what you do, even the risk, and often give up a need be, for buy a beautiful ink of distant lands, or for that years desired tool, or the paper aspirated, and the gold that must have that carat and that cost, and the brushes? It’s true I’m a dreamer. Fortunately, there are also social media that used in the right way can give satisfactions, but it is necessary to relate personally because the image, the elegance, the skills of the calligrapher are seen in the complex and in detail, live, and not, alas, in videos prepared that can mislead the inexperienced eyes.

I would certainly love to work in peace in my long-term projects, without deconcentrating myself, and creating my own ideas. There is a wide choice of products in my art, possibility voyage in the world, I hope to be able to give my contribution to companies, to enthusiasts, representing, creating quality and exclusivity. A dream in the drawer? A space all mine, here we use the museum- houses, but it would also be suitable for a versatile and modern environment, to have freedom of organization.
