Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew and Adrian Nuño.
Andrew and Adrian, please share your story with us.
In 2012, we realized we wanted to make video content but did not necessarily find a strong community in our town of Crystal Lake, IL. Rather than let that discourage us, we utilized that opportunity to create our own film community through the founding of our production company. Diginamic Productions began as just Adrian and I made films on no budget at all, and has since evolved into a company that has produced award-winning films in three states, has worked with companies ranging from non-profits to startups and has worked with a strong combination of suburban and city talent. In regards to our film work, we are focused on making content that speaks for marginalized and underrepresented communities that we believe deserve a voice. That is what has influenced our projects in the past including our current project in post-production entitled Little Things (a film exploring the topics of depression and suicide) to our current project in pre-production, Homecoming (a web series that explores Hispanic culture and the idea of being raised in one culture but living in another).
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our journey has definitely had its fair share of bumps in the road. From last-minute set changes to finding the right actor or actress for a certain role, we have faced many challenges in the pre-production, production and post-production phases of nearly all of our projects. But that is what makes the whole process exciting. The fact that something can happen at any second and, oddly enough, those moments of struggle and pressure sometimes lead to some of the most incredible moments we have ever captured. It’s weird how that works, but that is what makes filmmaking chaotic, exciting and ultimately rewarding.
Diginamic Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a film production company that specializes in creating various types of videos. Over the past six years, we have produced over one hundred and thirty videos ranging from short films to advertisements for entrepreneurs. On the film production side, we specialize in being the voice for the voiceless. We want to shine a light on topics that are often overlooked and that need to be discussed. What sets us apart from other production companies is the vast experience that we have. Between the two of us, we have made videos for billion-dollar companies all the way down to startups within their first year of operation. This variety of experience allows us to approach each project with an experienced perspective.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Personally, we would define success as knowing that our content has had a significant impact on people. We have had people from South Africa message us that a film of ours really made them think on their life and we have also had wedding clients message us more than two years after we shot their wedding that their wedding video is one of their most cherished possessions. For us, receiving these kinds of responses feels better than receiving any amount of money. It’s being told that we did our jobs as content creators. That we captured moments that were powerful and impactful.
