Meet David Wilczak of Next Level Electrical in Tinley Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Wilczak.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I really didn’t even have a thought about starting my own business.

I actually was injured on a electrical job. I was working for an electrical contractor. A fall had me not working for a good 9 months. When I started back. I couldn’t go full time at first. I started back with a few side jobs.
It took off from there. I did a little more than electrical work in the beginning. Until I finally was able to get to a place where it was 100% electrical projects.

Has it been a smooth road?
Struggles? Huh.

I think it is always a struggle when you have others working for you.

Being responsible for the product I produce.

Health setbacks slowing me at times.

I’ve actually worked at reducing stress. When it comes to my company. I stay a bit smaller. I don’t try a be a big shot. Meaning. Not taking on more than I can handle.

Size of job. I work on balance. Giving myself enough time on and in between jobs. And that helps greatly with the finished product and planning.

People aren’t stupid. They might not know initially. But give them a little time. And they’ll know if you take pride in your work. Or you are just in it for the money.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in residential. Working with homeowners. I take the time to get it the way they want it to come out. That’s important. They are the ones that will see the finished product all the time. They really need to be happy with it. Getting them involved is the key. This may sound funny. But I am proud of my drywall work. I do it because I don’t want to leave a customers home with holes in walls or ceilings. I don’t do major drywall repair. But I am good enough to handle a bit of it. What sets me apart from others? I really don’t think I all that. But I don’t think I take advantage of people. And I really care about my product.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chicagoland is great. You really want to know what I love about it? Conduit.

I think conduit makes for a great installation. Cook County and other counties around Chicago call for conduit. Not everywhere is like that.
