Meet Jason Forrester

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Forrester.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was a late bloomer when it came to being a musician. I didn’t start playing until I was 17. A friend of mine needed a bass player to jam with him and I said teach me. After that I just learned through playing. Now 3 bands later here I am. I’m currently with the Band Black4.

Please tell us about your art.
I draw inspiration from things going on around me. Something going on in my life, things I watch or read. I especially get inspired by working with others that are very ambitious and creative. That’s why I’ve gotten into soundtrack and scoring work lately. It gives me a chance to take words, visuals and enhance them with more emotion. Music is an emotion. Definitely.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I try not to pick sides with my writing. I try to see everything and everyone’s perspective. I think that’s what makes my music more accessible. I prefer to bring out deeper emotion than play on the I’m right, your wrong. There’s too much of that these days. I like the escape of music. Taking you to a place, feeling what it’s like there, then whisking you off somewhere else.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I’m currently the bass player for the Band Black4. www.black4band.com You can also find us on Facebook. www.facebook.com/black4band. We have many shows coming up. I’ve also started doing scoring and soundtrack work. I’m currently working with a great writer /director Tommy Costabile. You can find me at www.forrstarrmusic.com.

    What a GREAT band!
I miss being able to see them in person since I’ve moved to Arizona, but hopefully in the near future they’ll get around to doing a nationwide tour!
