Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannie Claycomb.
Jeannie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When we would visit my late father in law he would ask me to give him a shoulder and back massage. So, I would and he told me that “I had God’s gift, I should do it for a living”. My husband and I thought about it checked out different schools and I decided to go for it. Went to school, graduated and couldn’t stop kept adding classes on that I had a passion and thought would make a difference in people’s lives.
17 plus years later, I’m still doing my passion. Helping people feel better the holistic alternative way. Been in business for all that time plus worked part time just to get some customer service experience in the field. Many modalities plus now I’m including Canine Sports Massage which I’m more than half way finished.
Working with my hands, helping people and animals is so vital to me. Yes, it’s a lot of work but in same token very beneficial and rewarding to me.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road. With all of the franchisee popping up around and giving discounts. The sole proprietor has it difficult to compete but you never give up. If you have confidence in your work then you’ll succeed.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with KBJ Bodyworks Center – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
KBJ Bodyworks Center is a Massage/bodywork business. I not only do massages but Zen Shiatsu as well. Zen Shiatsu is working with the meridians clearing the pathways to the organs via stretches. Releasing the blockages from stagnation and depletion. After a session, you feel more invigorating as in a massage you are more relaxed. Both are very rewarding to the human body.
Different modalities that KBJ does:
Integrated Massage
Swedish Massage
Deep Tissue
Sports Massage
Corporate Chair Massage
Oncology Massage
MU-Xing Therapy Massage
Medical Massage Therapy
Reflexology
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Himalayan Salt Massage
Pregnancy Massage
Zen Shiatsu and Pregnancy Zen Shiatsu
Stretches incorporated into almost any modality.
What sets me off from other therapists is… I care about YOU. You are not a number. When you are with me in a session, I listen to see what issues you are having, how we can help, give you stretches or ideas on how you can help yourself in the meantime before your next treatment. I’m open to suggestions from my clients
What makes me proud of as a company? After 17 years, I’m still able to make a living with two young adults, mortgage, etc. Yes, it’s difficult but a challenge. Who doesn’t like a challenge? Makes you strive a bit harder going out and beyond your comfort zone. I’m actually a shy person so talking to a group of people is tough for me but I do it. I love my job and wouldn’t change it for the world.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
lol… Plans for the future? Keep working but more clinical sessions/treatments.
Will be incorporating Canine Sports Massages for those four legged animals. I’m a bit more than half way thru my studies now and enjoying every single bit of it. They Knead the massages just as we (humans) do.
Started doing horse shows last year. Giving people massages and being out in the open where horses where was just amazing and relaxing since I grew up on a farm in Kansas. This year planning on doing more and possibly Agility shows as well.
