Meet Amanda Gray of Amanda Gray Productions in South Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Gray.

Amanda, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2007, I graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Commercial Photography. Shortly after relocating to Chicago, I landed a roll producing & it has been my passion for the past 10 years. While it appreciates my technical skills, it also combines my natural ability to manage people & budgets. Growing up as a middle child, being the glue came instinctively. Joining clients together for a flawless production is what I strive for. Building lasting relationships is at the core of what I love to do.

Has it been a smooth road?
Yes, it’s been a pretty smooth road thankfully. The industry in Chicago is so supportive and I am beyond grateful to be apart of it. There have definitely been struggles along the way. I was producing full time for 5 years before I took the leap of faith out into the freelance world. The experience I gained during that time has been a big part of my success. The main struggle was the fear of the unknown. It’s typically either crazy busy or super slow. The key for me is to really take advantage of any downtime to catch up & invest back into my company & my clients.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Amanda Gray Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
I started my business about 5 years ago. As a producer, you wear many hats. There is a lot that we do behind the scenes of a photo shoot to make it all happen. From the initial bidding stage to building the dream team, I ensure every detail is carefully executed. We are the eyes in the sky, overseeing everything. Some of the basics include the following: Comprehensive Estimating, Usage Negotiation, Scheduling & Logistics, Assembling the Crew, Castings, Catering, Craft Services, On-Set Management & Final Invoicing.

I specialize in Advertising, Annual Reports, Catalogue, Commercial & Editorial shoots. I pride myself on the amazing teams that I get the pleasure to work with. You are only as good as your crew. Surrounding yourself with the best is essential. My dedication and attention to detail to each and every job is what sets me apart. I bring a unique perspective and creative solutions that add value to every project.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The industry is constantly changing which requires everyone to be more versatile. There has definitely been a shift to incorporate motion simultaneously which I see happening even more. I see a lot of growth and more opportunity. The producers here in Chicago are becoming a united force and teaming up to be abreast with all trends. You have to stay present and never stop growing.
