Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Wermund.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was young, I enjoyed visiting the salon with my mother. I responded to the environment – it was fun, creative, busy, and it was always changing.
I enrolled in Cosmetology school as part of Geneva High School’s vocational program. I didn’t really know if I wanted to be a hairdresser but I was ready for a new experience.
My first salon was on the Gold Coast of Chicago assisting a senior stylist with Dome Hair Extensions. After a year, I was ready to have a chair of my own. I started at a small family style salon where I was mentored by the salon owner, Rosie Korines. She was a great leader!
After two years, I was ready for a fresh challenge. Working at a salon in my hometown of Geneva, IL is where I met Becky Vinehout – she was an educator for Redken. She changed my perspective on my career. I was ready to take my budding passion for the beauty industry to the next level.
That’s when I shifted my interest to a luxury spa/salon. I loved the idea of using my talents and expanding repertoire to support my clients in their personal beauty evolution.
That’s when I fully embraced the Aveda product line. When Aveda was founded in 1978 there was no such thing as “eco-friendly”. I’ve always been a big-picture kind of girl. Aveda is up to 99% naturally derived, they also work with indigenous people to grow some of their ingredients. These kinds of ideals aligned with my own values.
I joined the team at Paul Joseph in November 2016. It’s a great group of serious (and fun) professionals that work together that make the client’s hair dreams come true. We specialize in all kinds of color, balayage, and hair extensions. It’s a partnership that I can see continuing for a long time. I’m so happy here! 🙂
In September 2018, I celebrated 30 years behind the chair. I truly love my work and I can’t imagine retiring… ever!
Has it been a smooth road?
Success is never a straight line. Finding a salon home where I feel I belong took a while. Also, as my skills evolved, my needs changed.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I love color.
Corrective Color – If you’re a brunette and you want to be a red-head I’m your girl. I love the process.
Highlights – The big dramatic changes are fun, but I also enjoy the subtle nuanced highs and lows of more conservative clients.
Extensions – I can give you the length or thickness you’ve always dreamed of. I can add color without disturbing your natural color.
I am an enthusiastic professional that wears my passion for the business on my sleeve.
