Check out Bethany Quinn’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Quinn.

Bethany, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I decided I wanted to go back to photography after I went to beauty school. I was in my apprenticeship for a whole year before I realized I was not passionate enough about beauty to do it 12 hours a day. I picked up my camera again after a 7-year hiatus, during that time, and realized that photography was what I was supposed to be doing.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Today I incorporate the salon experience with my portrait clients. I provide them with hair styling, makeup, and wardrobe selection before their photo session. I call it the Editorial Portrait. It’s for women of all ages and I like to encapsulate the feeling of dressing up. When you look good, you feel good and that’s what I like to do for my clientele. For creative work, I like to incorporate nature, fashion, and the authentic woman. I’m working on a project now where I’m photographing 100 women in under a year in no makeup that are 30 years old and up. This age range in women’s lives are not celebrated enough. When they come to me I want them to feel good in their skin and have a new perspective of themselves.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is waking up every morning and being excited that I get to photograph today or work on a project leading up to a portrait session. There is no point of absolute validation, it’s an illusion, you need to be happy with what you have and work with that. For me it does help to have a solid support system. If I didn’t have my husband, my dog, and two cats to come home to I would live at the studio. This helps me create boundaries with my time and keeps me motivated to complete tasks and hit deadlines.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?

Bethany Quinn is an absolute delight to work with. If you haven’t had the chance to be photographed by her, you’re severely missing out.
