Hans, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started StickOutSocial in 2012 with the goal of providing a digital marketing partner to small and mid-size businesses. I have a passion for helping these individuals because they are very passionate about what they do but may not have the knowledge or know-how on marketing their business online.
Fast forward to today and we still service the small to mid-size markets, but we are exclusively focused on website design and application development. This allows us to stay hyper-focused on our clients two biggest concerns: being on time and on budget.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our biggest struggle of a company was having to make the decision whether or not to stay as an ‘all in one digital marketing solution’ or focus on providing a select few services.
We decided rather than be good at a lot of things, let’s become great at one thing. So we decided to focus on one thing: web development. We stopped offering marketing services because although we know we could do it, we wouldn’t be able to scale and adapt to new methodologies and tools entered the market to be more competitive.
The transition from going from 25+ services to 1 was difficult, but that was 3 years ago, and we are very happy we made that difficult decision at that time.

StickOutSocial is an award-winning web design and application development company. We help businesses get relevant exposure through search engines and we engage their website traffic (users) with beautiful, hand-crafted websites!

My team deserves all the credit for why we are here today. This includes Kelly Prieve, Hallie Hinkhouse, Kathleen Reill and Collin Osgood, the individuals who have stuck it out since the very beginning. If I’ve done anything good as a President, it was accepting that I’m not the smartest person in the room. Once I accepted that, the company blossomed.
