Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Zibutis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Monica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started shooting weddings 10 years ago, but my journey hardly started there. I fell in love with photography in my high school photography class in 1998. I went on to study photography briefly at Purdue University before realizing that college and I were not meant to be. It took another 5 years before actually starting my photography business. I opened my studio in December 2012, I wanted to start shooting more portraiture, babies and children, after the birth of my oldest in 2011.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Motherhood was one of the biggest hurdles! It is the absolute best thing I have ever done, as well as the most difficult as a business owner.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Monica Z Photography LLC story. Tell us more about the business.
I primarily shoot weddings, I have a very vibrant, romantic, but natural shooting style. I love to capture events as they are, but am not afraid to give a little direction when needed. I am easy going and have been told by many brides that I am a force of calm on their wedding day. For many years, flower/ring shots were a thing my brides always asked for and looked forward to.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel like the first several years of my business were packed with good luck. It really took off with a boom and the 3 year goal I had when starting out became a reality! I was blessed to work side by side with my husband every single day and have enjoyed travel weddings and bookings all over the country with my best friend as a result!
