Meet Elizabeth Neurauter of Elizabeth Jane Photography in Logan Square

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Neurauter.

Elizabeth, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been inspired to create and make art. I studied Fine Arts for years as a child and as a young adult. As soon as I finished college, I knew I wanted to be a working Artist and Photographer. I started my career as a Photographer in 2008. I was mentored but many AMAZING Chicago-based Studio Photographers. I loved the commercial look and style of photography, but I wanted to work with REAL people. I knew my place was Lifestyle and Documentary Photography. And so it began. Elizabeth Jane is my small, independent photography company in Chicago, IL. For the last 9 years I have had fun shooting couples, families, babies and more all over Chicago.

Has it been a smooth road?
The competition. Even living in a big city, there are so many other photographs out there. What I discovered is you really need to stand out as a photographer. You must have your own ideas, identity and style as a photographer and that is just what I did to overcome my obstacles.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Elizabeth Jane Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Elizabeth Jane Photography is my small, independent photography company, located in Chicago, IL. I specialize in Newborn, Pregnancy and Family Photography. I am most proud that I started my company all on my own. As the sole photographer at my company, I travel around the city photographing every photography session. My photography is genuine. I have a very soft, simple and natural style. I love catching my couples in those real moments and capturing true emotions, feelings that are unique and special. As a photographer I am formally trained in both film and digital photography. So, yes I still shoot film!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love, love, love that I can walk or bike just about anywhere in Chicago. Life is never boring. Whether I’m on a stroll with my pup or getting a bite to eat with my hubby, my favorite coffee shops, restaurant and boutiques are just a short walk away. Although, I am one of the very few that loves Chicago winters. I do have to say winter is not my favorite thing about Chicago, only because I love shooting in the lovely parks and beautiful city streets of Chicago and that is not always possible in the winter.
