Today we’d like to introduce you to Nima Taradji.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nima. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am an Iranian-American editorial and documentary photographer based in Chicago, Illinois-USA. I quit my job as an attorney a few years ago when I decided to return to photography. I wanted to be a photographer since I was ten years old when I walked around with a plastic camera my dad had given me.
As a documentary photographer my attention is drawn to cultural, social and political aspects of our society and I photograph people and stories I find important and to which I can commit. These are aspects by which we define ourselves and understanding them helps us understand each other. I see my camera, as a tool that gives me access to places and allows me to explore the world and issues that would have otherwise remained a mystery. Photography is and has been a perpetual learning experience.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Juggling two carriers at once was difficult until I was able to let go of one and elect to be a photographer full time.

I am editorial and documentary photographer based in Chicago. I am a contributor to Polaris Images (a New York-based image agency with clients worldwide).
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Doing what you love is the best way to live-regardless of pecuniary rewards.
