Thanks for sharing your story with us David Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The short version… I’ve been a maker pretty much all of my life. My career as an artist officially set sail in 1995 and I’ve been on this path since then.
Has it been a smooth road?
Oh god no. It has been the furthest thing from smooth. Finding a way to truly be able to do what you love and survive financially in this world is a difficult endeavor. The struggles are rarely creative but more often the hurdles the rest of life throws at you.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with David Anthony Art – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As an artist, I guess my “business” is selling the work. What I do, now that’s a little more interesting. I take my experiences in the world and run them through the filter of my mind a share what it all looks like to me. I think I’m most known for my portrait style and secondly for the fact that I am always growing and discovering newness as a part of my process.
I don’t know that I’m super proud of anything but it does bring me joy that I get to choose. Every day it’s my choice that shapes the day.
I remain set apart from others by staying true to my internal drives. It is guaranteed to be unique is I just do me.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Summers in Chicago and the community I’ve become a part of are what I like best about Chicago.
Lastly, I’d have to say the cold, If you don’t insulate it can get so cold it hurts. and I don’t just mean the weather.
