Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Olenick.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am the owner of the iconic French jewelry brand Les Nereides boutique in Chicago. We are the only store for this brand in America who has 65 locations worldwide. I started off as the manager of the store and then took over the boutique in May 2016. I have always had a passion for jewelry, especially costume jewelry that is vintage inspired. When I was a kid I used to make jewelry and sell at local art fairs. Now I have taken my passion for baubles into my adulthood and own my own store.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Establishing a brand for Les Nereides in the US is a challenge since most only know about us out of the states.
Les Nereides – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in French hand painted enamel costume jewelry. I am the store owner along with my father. I am proud to own the only location in America. Les Nereides is very unique from other jewelry lines, which I love because different is always fun. It’s always fun to discover something new. Every collection of jewelry has a story behind them and are made with the finest materials from around the world.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am proud to have discovered a brand to bring here to the United States that is very unique compared to other stores. I love when customers come in and discover the brand for themselves and become fans of the jewelry. I am proud to have developed a cult following here in Chicago for Les Nereides.
