Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Davis.
Laura, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Everyday Charming began by chance in 2006. The first few years were spent blissfully creating portraits in my tiny studio in Eureka, IL. I truly had no idea where my camera would take me.
The southern part of the states became home for a moment… then my world started to spin. I found myself exploring Canada, California, England, Italy, Finland, France and then finally landing in Chicago in 2013.
Through life, love, and heartache I was slowly learning to ignore fear and follow my heart.
Chicago began to feel like home, especially after living out of a suitcase for so long. I eventually fell in love (again). On February 25th, 2015 Mr. Davis and I eloped between the marble grandeur of the Chicago Courthouse. It was the sweetest day.
Enter, Charming In Love. An elopement company for spirited couples.
Every love story should be told, especially the quiet ones. My days are spent (coffee in hand) pursuing fabrics, flower shops, lip colors and intimate venues to style my clients adventures.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My work amplifies personal connections. It’s my goal to notice the smallest details and to reflect what I see in the most attractive and real way possible – in both photography and video. I keep this mantra in mind always … If an image doesn’t move you to feel something, what is its purpose?
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
The flood of information and social engagement we are faced with everyday can be inspiring but can also steal our inspiration. I make a daily habit to unplug, turn off and step away. Unless you are refueling yourself creatively you cannot expect to feel inspired.
