Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Rahn.
Adam, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I wanted to be a zoologist for a long time, but a semi-famous one on TV (a la Jeff Corwin or Steve Irwin), so I focused my studies on biology for a while. Then after a couple years of it in college I realized that what I had really been pursuing was creating content and sharing knowledge – and that biology had just been a means to an end. So, I pivoted, started taking journalism courses and TV production classes, and immediately knew I was in the right field. I finished my studies at Illinois State University and have been behind a camera ever since (with some stints in front of one too).
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My art is storytelling through video. I primarily work on client projects (I’m a freelance filmmaker and video producer and like everyone else I have bills to pay), but with those I try and focus on each client’s story – they’re all unique and interesting and fun to learn about. My goal is to show that curiosity I have about the world to viewers. When I’m not producing client work I try and produce freelance filmmaking and video production content on YouTube. My goal with that is to simply inspire others hoping to give this career path or industry a go and pass along all the hard-earned information I’ve found over the years, but I like to have fun with it too. I take my work very seriously, but not myself.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Get out, be genuine, have an interest in people, art, ideas, and beliefs outside of those found in your studio.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Support can be as simple as sharing our content with a friend, retweeting stuff we’ve posted, liking our page, or watching our YouTube videos, but hiring us or passing our name along the next time you hear a friend, colleague or business needs video work is always the biggest support for us. You can find a good amount of our work at DroiMedia.com, orby adding “/droimedia” to the URL next time you visit Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube.
