Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Dunn.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Morgan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I first started modeling when was 13-14 years old. Usually with friends who had cameras and we would go on little photoshoots around our town. Fast forward to when I turned 18, I met an amazing local photographer, Meredith Washburn, and went on a shoot with her. That lead to my first styled shoot with local vendors, and then less than a year later I was modeling on a trip in LA.
The time in California led me to start my modeling portfolio on Instagram! Today, about a year and a half after my trip to California, I’ve shot with so many photographers who have become great friends, and have met so many creative people that inspire me daily.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’ve submitted my portfolio to agencies, only to end up with no reply. Finding photographers that you work well with can sometimes be a difficult task. And safety is always an issue, which can limit opportunities. Safety is my most important priority when working with new photographers and creatives. Working through obstacles and staying true to yourself will always make the outcome more amazing.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I would consider myself an unconventional model. I’m not 6 feet tall with runway legs and could wear VS angel wings. I’m more lifestyle and editorial, meaning you would likely see me in magazines instead of on the runway. I feel like I have a unique look and energy about me that is different from any model out there.
What were you like growing up?
I was the most quiet and shy kid growing up. I would never speak up or share my thoughts. Which is so interesting to think about that now. While I’m still more of a quiet person today, I like to share my thoughts and meet and connect with other people. That’s how to make and build new relationships, especially in this industry. I was also very interested in art as a kid, and I still am!
