Tina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Chicago city girl, from Bridgeport. Obsessed with my two Brussels Griffon dogs, Monki and Pita. Yes, like the movie from As Good As It Gets! I love staying active by doing yoga and pilates.
I have been wanting to do hair since I was 12 years old. Starting out cutting and styling not only my hair but all my friends. Back then I didn’t know what I was doing but I loved it! Styling girls hairs for dances/proms, in my own little salon, my bedroom.
Now I have been in the hair industry professionally for over 10 years. Always in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. With an experienced background in redefining hair, I have built a reputation for creating a picture of healthy and nourished hair. Ensuring my clients they are leaving with a fresh and trendy look.
I also offer on-demand services, traveling to my clients, not only in Chicago but all over the country.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Always continue your education. Knowledge is key, keep learning new things. Practice on your weak areas. Always look for inspiration to keep you motivated.

My role at Renee Feldman Salon is a stylist, colorist, bridal and hair extension expert. I am capable to do it all!
I also offer on-demand services, traveling to my clients, not only in Chicago but all over the country. Continued my education through classes such as Behind the Chair, Oribe Pro, L’Oréal Professional, Great Lengths Cold Fusion Extensions, Hair Talk & Hot Heads Tape-Ins Extensions, Heather Chapman Bridal & Advanced Braiding and Diva Curl. I love keeping up with the latest trends and getting inspired by social media’s like Instagram or Pinterest. You may have seen some of my work in Wonder and Awe, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Social, Modern Luxury Weddings, Marquette Avenue Events, Inside Weddings, Michigan Avenue Brides, Chicago Splash, and Chicago Fire. So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
Cosmetology has always been a great career path for women with new opportunities opening up all the time, including business ownership.
