Krue, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
So my story begins in Cleveland, Ohio.It’ss 2015, I’m 25 and have a new camera and my photos are… terrible. After a year of “Phlearning” and watching Youtube tutorials, I finally feel confident enough to start charging for my services.
By the year of 2017 I was on googles top search list for “Headshot photographers in Cleveland”, was J.R. Smiths charity event photographer and doing photography full-time. With rates starting at $300 my clients started declining. Thats when I decided to move to Chicago. Chicago has a much bigger market for Headshot and High Fashion photographers than Cleveland.
So here I am. 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, there are ALWAYS struggles. In my case, I had a hard time learning how to price myself. Learning what price point I fall into and what to value myself was always a challenge for me. Getting clients was never really hard. Creating bundles and raising my prices as I improve was the hardest part for sure.
But reading books was helpful.
Blurred Image Media – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So Blurred Image Media is a Headshot and High Fashion Photography company. B.I.M is known for giving people the best representation of themselves and giving them a positive experience.
As a photographer and model, I know how weird it can be to have a camera pointed at you. So I make sure to spend time getting you comfortable in front of the camera before we get the “real shots”. I am TOTALLY ok with goofing off and joking around at first so you are comfortable and not all tenses for the shoot. Whatever it takes to get that awesome personality and expression out of you.
I am proud that this much growth has happened in just 3 years. Blurred Image Media is known most for our bright and vibrant colors in our high fashion shots and our clean-cut corporate headshots. We value Expression
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as how happy and comfortable you are. So in Cleveland, I found myself successful as a full-time photographer. I feel if you can pay your rent, travel and live comfortable AND be happy with what it is you are doing, you are successful.
This year my goal is to turn my attention to Youtube and start blogging once a week.
